Well, first post of 2020 for us. My son Joshua, 9 years old, wanted to grow his own pumpkin and I grew one for myself. We took our 680 sq foot of soil and split it into two parts for two plants. Never grew two pumpkins before with my family, usually use the whole area for one. Our goal was 2000 lbs, 1000 each. Closer pumpkin is mine, grown off of the 1791 Werner. Day 49, lets just say I passed my goal already and she is still growing pretty decent. Hoping she goes heavy like last years fruit from the 1791. Not sure where she will end up, but I'm really excited for how it did with a smaller plant than normal. Chris, Keven, Vince, if you guys see this post, grow the 1791 Werner. I know it is not a famous fancy seed, but it will grow you a personal best! Joshua grew our own 1531 seed this year. It started out flying super fast and then just pooped out. Day 45 for him. He still has a ways to go to hit his 1000 lb goal, not sure if it will get there honestly. He now has 4 more pumpkins growing on his plant as well.

Joshua got 3rd place over all, new grower of the year, and youngest grower! Man, he had such a great time! 969 lbs was his fruit and it had been off the vine for some time, so it lost weight. My fruit surpassed anything I could have dreamed of this year. Cutting the patch in half I gave up aspirations of a new record this year after growing 1531 last year. I hoped for 1000 lbs with such a small sq foot. Well, God had different plans as you can see by the number on the scale. 1705 was official weight. I about fell over. All time Southern California record fell. I did spend more time in the patch due to covid 19 as well this year with less hours at work. We were so blessed this year and we had a blast as the charlie brown team!
