Great seeds for the 2020 season: 1989.5 and 1928 Daletas, 1304 J. Werner, 1585,5 Q. Werner. Also tried to germinate an old school seed: 1676 Daletas.

Plant choice was done: very difficult to pull out a great plant like the 1304 Werner, but a breeding project idea was stronger.

Pollination time: in the background a 1935,5 Jutras squash plant, grown in a large pot only for pollination purposes. The cross is 1989,5 Daletas x 1935,5 Jutras sq. The basic idea is to obtain a three way hybrid: I and my friend Stefano Cutrupi we consider the 1989,5 Daletas (a 2145 McMullen remake) an hybrid (more or less); the idea is to cross an "hybrid" with a "pure line" genetically far. Aims: looking for more hybrid vigor and put some variability in modern AG crosses that became year by year genetically restricted. Dramatic effects of the long winter in Italy on our minds? Craziest pumpkins mania? We will see in the future.

Very raining the beginning of June: 4 rainy days (more than 200 mm of rain) rise water table at soil level. Not a good situation.

Unfortunately main vein rotting affect the pumpkin growth at the end of September. Today I found a soft spot in the bottom. This is what can happen if you grown only one plant: one plant, one shot, no more possibilities. End of the season: OTT: 1050 cm, 696,4 Kg, anyway a PB.

Ermacora 696,4 Kg 2020, UOW DMG. Fortunately seeds count is good, in 2021 we will try if our breeding project gave some results.
