Trying to get a shade house for our normal hot summers here in Iowa. Also will pull greenhouse plastic over if it is super wet like last year. Son in law drove these huge highline poles with his 180 hp Volvo track hoe. That machine is a beast! No tamping needed around poles. 30 x 90 area.

Not growing this year. Trying to take care of things before I grow next year. Probably ate 80 of my broccoli plants. Ok OTT was 14.5 SS, 25 EE and 49 CC. Total 88.5". Couldn't find a chart on ground pigs. Not sure if she went heavy to chart. Certified weight 11.98 lbs! Think she's the grandmother of all ground pigs.

All exhibitors and attendees need to bring a mask and wear it. Social distancing will need to be practiced. We want to have our event and not upset people in our community. If we all show that we are taking precautions to safely do this then it will be a fun day for all. We will not be offering food or drink this year so bring your own if you wish. No alcohol allowed. There are eating establishments on the square or nearby for food and drink. All are within easy walking distance. Also exhibitors and attendees should bring their own chairs because we will not be setting up bleachers this year to help with the social distancing. Exhibitors should plan accordingly on clothing since this will be out in the wide open come rain or shine. No pre-registering is required. Our registration fees continue to be the same. $15 per class except no fee on Tomato. Exhibitors can weigh more than one fruit per class and only pay the 1 registration fee for that class. 1 exhibit will be entered toward placing and prize money and the others would be exhibitions only. All will be officially weighed or measured and entered on the GPC web site. Green Squash will be weighed against AG’s towards prize money. Squash will be entered and placed per the size on the GPC web site under Squash. Howard Dill pumpkin will have to weigh at least 500 lbs to be considered. We will start weighing at 9:00 a.m. and weigh until 12:00 p.m. so exhibitors need to arrive accordingly. Awards and prize money will be handed out after that. All exhibits will be released at 3:00 p.m.

Well it was tough taking a year off from growing this year. Had to be honest with myself and knew I wouldn't have enough time to care for plants. Even though I didn't get anthing to the scale, I still won a competition. Pleased to be re-elected to my 4th term as the Davis County Sheriff! Even though it doesn't show on the GPC list with a weight, it does have a pretty good payout lol.
