Well, last year was busy but I started too late! Nothing of note to report on any giant vegetables. But I did successfully root a cutting from my Fiddle Leaf Fig tree.

My Carolina Reaper pepper plant had about a hundred peppers on it though! I used the dehydrate mode on my new Ninja flip-away air fry oven to preserve some of them.

Also, you all may think this is absurd but I decided to buy a Scythe to cut my brush. It is a very interesting tool to use and I just enjoy the simplicity of it. I bought mine from Baryonyx knife company. I will take more photos later.

Saturday's project (if it doesnt rain). I need to build this and prepare the ground for my vegetable rows. This one will be mostly for food.

Sunday, January 12 View Page
Put up the structure. Used 6 tposts to secure it to the ground. Zip tied it to the frame. I buried the sides of the plastic tarp in the ground.

We wore headbands like teenage mutant ninja growers should. That’s my dad.

And it’s done!

I chose to till by chicken... and broadfork. This little tilled area is about 25'x25' and the green house is 26'x 10'. Good ol' manual labor. This is virgin ground, so I didn't bother adding amendments to the outdoor 25 x 25 area. The dirt is very rich and dark looking.

I got this 275 gallon IBC tote on Craigslist from a neighbor who even delivered it for $40 total. And the label on the side said it contained beneficial organisms for plants...ADDED BONUS. That evening it rained and collected around 10 gallons ish maybe more.

One thing about this area where I live, lots of boulders. BIG MOMMAS. I'll just be growing around them.

Sunday, January 26 View Page
I took out this huge stump by breaking the roots with the broadfork, digging bar and a shovel then I put this cool woodpecker log in it's place and installed a little bat house on the top. Afterwards I sprayed the whole thing with bat attractant.

Ran out of 10' t-posts. Had to find something else to use.

After 2 hard day's work I'm almost ready for plants. You can see the weird log I found to use in place of a 10' t-post. I kinda like it. Adds a nice touch. Also, that is bird scare tape I hung around the garden and that pile of sticks behind me is all the junk I pulled out of the 25x25 garden.

Lots of eggs! The trick is to hang string lights around the coop and give them a lamp heater to get eggs during the winter.

my plants are growing. all of the tomatoes were planted at the same time but you can see the size difference of the ones in the larger pots vs the starter cells.

Thursday, February 27 View Page
of my 3 5.95 domingo seeds only one has sprouted. all the others came up just fine. I put the rest of my tomatoes in these tree seedling pots which are about 10" tall and 2" x 2". The soil is 707 mix by roots organic and i'm using the roots organic Oregonism mycos to try that out. I'm using the dry mixes from roots organic this year as well since i have been impressed with their soils.

Remember this weird tomato I grew in my closet with the super exaggerated sepals that thought they were tomato leaves? It was 1.63 pounds. I'm excited to show you its progeny today! It is a Megamutt variety tomato. Bnot knows more about these than I Do.

Monday, March 2 View Page
Here is one view of the 1.63 megamutt progeny plant with some kind of mutation going on. Let's hope its a cool mutation that puts out a 10 pounder this year.

Here is another view. I'm trying to decide which X-men character to name it after. What do you think? let me know. I plan to detail this plants journey through its freaky life. Stay tuned.

These Cukes done went berserk in a short time. They had some initial leaf burn but now are looking great! Time to go out into the greenhouse! I have two of these going right now that are from the 16 pound MacCoy cucumber. Their roots are extremely vigorous!

All tucked in last night. Both got lots of Mykos and Azos as well as 3 Starter packs each! I also irrigated the greenhouse with a soaker hose and a water filter that attaches to the house from Amazon Basics. Hopefully it will take out most of the chlorine and other stuff that kills the good bacteria! My 5.91 tomato was watered with the unfiltered water, i'm hoping the filter helps add weight by making the soil bacteria less prone to die off.

The front porch got an update as well! Now the fiance wants to be outside too! lol

Last night I planted 4 of my tomato plants in the greenhouse. It was dark in there so I made the kid hold a lantern while I mixed the special stuff into the dirt. So from closest (just out of the shot to the right) to furthest we have: 1.63 Murphy (Nickname Pending) 4.54 Martin 8.61 Sutherland 7.19 LaRue

Here is the 1.63 Murphy again, but planted in the ground in the greenhouse. Porkchop wants to name it after Bernie Sanders for some reason... haha. I think its leaning more to the right than the left porkchop! (the parent tomato had some trump hair going on i think) Hey, I saw that you were awarded some sort of replica for your World Record tomato. I want details of the replica, looks interesting in the GPC photos.

Here is the 4.54 Martin offspring from the seeds Wile Coyote (greg) sent me. I cant remember who it was that grew a big one off of this seed in a hot environment but it made me want to grow it. All four plants received the following on 03/02/2020 at 7pm: 3 liters of 707 soil 30 Teaspoons of Roots Organic Elemental 1 Big Handful Extreme Gardening Mykos 2 Old Truck Organics Myko Start Paks 2 Wallace Organic Wonder Super Starter Paks Sprinkling of Extreme Gardening Azos on the rootball Sprinkling of Roots Organics Oregonism on the rootball and in planting hole.

8.61 Sutherland Haven't seen many people growing this seed and I have been reluctant to sprout it because of how expensive it was at Auction. I Know Dan is very secretive about what is in his Tomato Crosses so I hope this has some of the magic in it!

Tuesday, March 3 View Page
The 7.19 LaRue! It is by far the healthiest and biggest of all of them. This is the same seed that grew my 5.91 so I have high hopes! Jack, if you want to do some seed swapping with me, let me know.

Just shy of 120 degrees yesterday at around 4:00pm in the greenhouse with an ideal humidity of around 55. The plants are all happy. at night its dipping down around 60 degrees to 70 degrees. So there is some large fluctuation in temperature. But, is that a bad thing? I feel like the cold might help in some regard.

I'm using Deep Drip 24" watering stakes in my most promising looking tomato plants. Last night i poured 2 liters of liquid fertilizer solution on each plant in the greenhouse. If they had a stake, I poured 1 liter down the stake and 1 liter at base of plant. Also, yesterday I switched to 20 minutes of water once every 24 hours starting at 4:38pm.

The 1.63 Murphy trying to catch up to the others. I'm not sure whats happening exactly. This one has the least amount of shade of all the tomatoes so far.

I spent lots of time working in the garden on Sunday. I mounded up my rows intended for my Low-Carb Potatoes. I got 2.5 rows done and irrigated with drip tape before I was completely worn out. Tons of worms! I planted 15-20 Giant Sunflowers in 707 mix in the rest of the 10" x 2" pots I wasn't using. Also seeded about 40 Swiss Chard seeds directly in the ground in my greenhouse. It was cloudy all weekend and slightly rainy and on sunday this rainbow popped up right over our compound. So Cool.

Got my Wallace organic wonder compost tea brewing. I emptied a tea bag of nettle leaves into it and added a sprinkling of some cane molasses as well as the WOW tea bag and activator. It will be ready to go on to plants on Friday evening at 5pm.

Here is the map from the research paper i posted about the coronavirus. The bright green highlighted areas have the ideal temperatures for the disease to thrive and are at greater risk for transmission. https://poseidon01.ssrn.com/delivery.php?ID=085025117117094003097104022001091025052087072045017035073085029100021125067111105099054034100045112022004073108030084090068125112013012044019067117110102125095083006095033062001065087118100074087086113084064103126113122099111120027027105080097031064106&EXT=pdf

Practicing my bread-making skills so at least i can make bread without going to the grocery store. It turned out pretty good! did a triple rise, used the dough proofer, then cooked in the dutch oven. MMMM :)

The Sunflowers are popping up! I hope they all do! We will see. It has been cloudy and wintery here lately. The greenhouse is at least staying around 50 degrees.

This was the trickiest part of transplanting the tomatoes in the 10” pots. I turned ithe pot upside down and laid the dirt on my forearm as I took the pot off. It worked well

Lots of plants I. The ground since I e been home from work due to the virus lockdown. I’ve got giant cabbages on the left. Tomatoes In The next row, then broccoli and Brussels sprouts and a row of low carb potatoes that I also planted on the end. Still need to plant my sunflowers.

One of two flower heads on my 1.63 Murphy plant. I'm calling it the Hydra because it is growing flower shoots that bend over like the hydra beast with all of its heads. There is even a stalk on this plant that would look like a sucker except for the fact that it only grew a single leaf at the end. This is awesome. This plant is truly a beast.

1.63 Murphy plant. Here is that stem that leads to a single leaf. :) idk about you but I'm excited about it. Mutant Hydra GIVE ME A TEN POUNDER!

The temperature is rising. The forecast says it will be in the 80's this week so I opened the main door to the greenhouse and put a netting barrier door on it to let the heat out and keep bugs/deer from coming in.

This guy was trying to get in before the door was even finished!

I pulled all of the petals out of this tomato. It wasn't opening up all of the way and I though it needed to be done. I've been periodically buzzing all of the flowers morning and night. I hope to have a pollination soon. This is one of the flowers on THE HYDRA.

Monday, April 27 View Page
This is the other flower on THE HYDRA. I'm hoping it opens up a bit more or i may have to open by hand like the other one.

This is a first for me. MUSHROOMS growing at the base around the tomato. Hows that for fungal health???!!! Side note: the 7.19 la rue plant which looked like my best chance at the start of the season with the best foliage and vigor has the smallest blooms so far! My scrawny weird Hydra mutant plant looked the worst and has the biggest blooms. I love being surprised like that, but at the same time I feel like the luck of the draw on these plants has such huge variables. to use Bnots phase, "THE GOLDEN SEED" could be any seed. It is like a race to find the golden ticket, only you have to grow it to test it out first.

I've got cucumbers coming in. Somehow they pollinated in the greenhouse?

Brutus magnum exhibiting strange growth. This same plant also had a stem with a single leaf on the end of it like THE HYDRA does. Maybe its something in the dirt. I discovered this weird spindly thing while i was trimming all of the bottom leaves off that touch the ground and getting rid of suckers. My hands foamed up completely yellow when i washed them afterwards.

The outdoor tomatoes were sagging and falling over after i just zip tied them to the netting last week. I added the central tomato cage there to help it not sag so much.
