Pumpkin set out in sun for an hour to adjust, leaf damage appears on both plants seen in picture. Ozone or sunburn?

Sunday, June 14 View Page
Plants recovered well, appear to be growing well under hoop house. Opened up during calm warm days.

Monday, June 15 View Page
Removed stakes guiding the pumpkins to let the vine better run across the ground. Leafs may be tilted too much in to the ground?

Monday, June 15 View Page
Plant option 1 to keep. Vine is curving more than I prefer to work with the limited sq ft.

Monday, June 15 View Page
Plant 2 to decide to keep. The far leaf is running in to the side of the house. I'd like to keep this up still to provide shade and wind block. This may be the deciding factor. I'm also worried bout the vine end. The last 2 leafs that you can see are shooting off parallel to the ground. Interfering with the vine setting. Any experience with this?

Plant 1 is showing some splitting on the main vine. Is this normal with growth?

Weird bubbling on leaf stem seen on both plants. Is this normal?

Pulled the front pumpkin. I have a lot of weeding ahead of me.

Sunday, June 21 View Page
Pumpkin weeded, more top soil put down, soaker hose readjusted. Plant to bury this under a fine layer of dirt tomorrow.

Kinked leaf stem supported. Hopefully this grows itself. out. I kept the 2 first secondary vines for the moment. They are already established and have their own leaves. I want to make sure I have good plant growth in my limited space.

Sunday, June 21 View Page
Main vine has a slight bend where it branches over to the next planting area. Soil is lifted on both sides to allow for more even growth. Hoping this corrects itself, no splitting yet.

Another view of the main vine

View down the main vine. I feel like the secondaries are close together, so a lot of it is covered.

View of the work done in the small garden today. Finished with some wind block. I don't think this is too tall for the plant. Plastic is put back up to protect from some rainy weather / storms. Shade cloth is on order to arrive this week which will replace it for the full length

First pollination! 1st secondary vine. Nice lobes

Plant grew a lot since last post! New shade / row covering up. Been very successful with preventing wilt

4 DAP, looking good!

Asked about this in a separate thread. Lawn care company unexpectedly came in and may have sprayed 2,4 d? noticed this wilting right away. University educator confirmed it does look like spray damage.

Thursday, July 16 View Page
Up close to spray damage This vine ended up being removed to prevent any spread. Between this and another secondary, about 6 ft cut off.

New growth showing dark green collar and bloating. Stunted leaves, close to the ground. 2,4d or high nitrogen?

First flower on the main pollinated. First female got damaged by some wind and was knocked off. Hope this one takes!

Pumpkins growing!

First main female on a bend and raised.

Plant has filled in nicely

Thursday, July 23 View Page
I've been finding leaves broken off about half way up the lead stalk. Not sure what is causing this. Appears to be limited to the new growth that had high nitrogen / 2,4 d

Thursday, July 23 View Page
better picture of what appears to be bites/ holes on the leaf stalks. Haven't found any others broken off, but 3 other leafs have this similar hole. Is this a bug? I've had systemic applied twice this season, and spray with a contact. have not noticed any bugs in the patch besides a SVB about a month ago. haven't seen any damage to vines, or frass

First main flower appears to be showing signs of blossom end rot. Still appears to be shiny, can't quite tell if it has stopped growing. Will measure in a later post to keep track.

Saturday, July 25 View Page
blossom end rot was falling off. Scraped off the rest, applied some daconil to it. What would cause this? has the fruit decided to abort? I don't believe that I have been over watering. Going out tomorrow to get some end rot calcium to apply. Maybe the patch is low? I've been foliar feeding with seaweed and started epson salts for mag

Saturday, July 25 View Page
Length of female shown. This was pollinated on the 17th, so 8 dap? I think the first second fruit was a lot bigger at this point, but have heard that they grow fast. Is this still on track?

Next back up on the main. Was really hoping that first took! There will be a lot of work pulling up roots to get a bend in this plant and clear the space (its in a long line of about 4 other vines) for it to grow. Should I start now? Or wait to see if this takes or the first fails? I was planning to grow 2 fruits on this plan, one on the main and the first secondary that is growing well. First time grower, only one plant.

Side Vine Pumpkin 17 DAP - just under 54" circumference.

Tuesday, July 28 View Page
Main vine pollination is definitely aborting. starting to show rot on full blossom end.

Sunday, August 2 View Page
Main Vine pollination backup seems to have taken. I was worried, because I saw the same blossom end rot happening on this plant. This is 12 DAP Seems to have recovered, the blossom end is now hard and dry to the touch. Should I just cut it off?

Sunday, August 2 View Page
Spent the weekend bending this main vine just under 90 degree and clearing this space for the pumpkin. Main vine used to come straight out through the middle of the void. Had to uproot about 5 nodes, and another 6 weren't buried yet. This vine grew fast during the busy work week, last of the month! Also removed a bunch tertiary vine growth from the patch to the left that I left in place at 2 other potential pumpkins. both aborted. In total, at least 20 ft in vine removed? it looks a lot cleaner. Was getting too packed. Plan to move the shade covering over to the new growth / main vine and monitor / mist the middle patch.

Close up of the pumpkin and bend. Lifted with pool noodles. My sand was wet, so the pumpkin is raised on a noodle of its own for now until that drys.

Another view of the weird holes appearing on the leafs. 2,4 d or high nitrogen or both.

Side vine pumpkin 32 DP 174 OTT, so I'm guessing around 120 lb? Very happy for my first time!

Tuesday, August 4 View Page
I can't use a calendar correctly, the big pumpkin is only on 24 DAP with about a 180 OTT. I think it slowed down a bit due to the colder, cloudy weather we've had the past 2-3 days and the main pumpkin vine is starting to pick up as its at 11 DAP. Supposed to be sunny and approaching up to 90 over the weekend.

We have had heavy rain and low temps the past few days. I've had the pumpkins covered under a blanket and wrapped in a tarp. Sand is slightly damp, but low moisture. Removed the tarp covering this morning to let it breath, blanket is still on in the cold weather. Noticed this large split on the blossom end. First that I have encountered while growing. I did not get to measure yet, but I imagine that both pumpkins took in a lot of water. I was hoping that being on the same plant, they split the uptake enough to avoid issues like this. Doesn't appear to go deep, and is further away from the blossom.

Thursday, September 10 View Page
Another view of the blossom end. A few other minor splits, some may have already healed over? Markings were not on the pumpkin when last uncovered 3 days ago prior to heavy rain.

Thursday, September 10 View Page
Decided to start some basic pumpkins on the back hill late in the season. Started to pollinate this week. Came across this twinned fruit on the vine this morning.

Thursday, September 10 View Page
Side Vine pumpkin is also showing some splits after the rain. This is stem side. Another not visible in this picture on the other side, but smaller.
