150 sqft plant update —- 532 House made the final cut for my 150 plant. The cross is 1044 Gansert x 575 Wolf. Hoping for a nice orange one here. The plant that got culled was a 667 Wolf. Centered up the hoop house which will probably need to come off within the next couple weeks as the plant is starting to take off.

131” Tobeck long gourds heading for the trellis. I like to try and get a couple leaf node roots to grow before the plant heads up the trellis. Only one of these plants will stay.

Grafted watermelon plants went in the raised bed greenhouse yesterday. Left is 268 Houston and right is 259 McClassin. Both grafted to rampart gourd rootstock. Thanks Nick, Hank and Kerry Gross for all the help. Could not have gotten to this point without you advice. Only one plant will stay. I may throw a giant tomato or two in here as well. The bed is 12x16’.

Here she is. 532 House x 2307 Wallace. Pollinated on 6/8. She’s gonna be orange but not sure about the shape. I’m just happy to get one set. It was quite the challenge in such a small space. I’m growing in a 10x15’ rectangle.

Yep a picture of bare dirt. This is where my 470 Connolly bushel gourd was planted. It looked horrible and could not take the heat so it got pulled. Direct seeded some field pumpkins in its place. Bummed that I’m out of the game for BG this year.

395 OTT on this one. My biggest Ott was 400” in 2019 but the fruit went light and only weighed 1303 so I’m possibly in PB territory which is pretty cool. Been dealing with some rot on the main and I think it’s slowing the gains down. Currently doing low 20’s per day.
