Yes I'm still alive. I almost didn't grow this year after the last two disasterous years that I had and then having a bad sinus infection that started at the end of March and lasted till late may. I went through the motions and still planted my garden plants indoors but I could not get inspired to grow no mater what I did. finally may 20 came along and I just took what I had and put it in the ground and hopped for the best. If thing we're to go bad I had no interest to save the season but fortunately everything went good and now the garden is doing good and now I'm getting inspired to grow again. When things go good it sure can help fix your attitude !!!

This is how my season started. On planting day When I started to rototill my garden I found this nest of baby rabbits inside my fenced in garden. All I could think about was that they were going to have a field day eating every little plant that I was going to plant.

Fortunately my starter plants did very good this year. Here I planted a row of broccoli then a row of cauliflower and then 2 rows of peppers. They were the best starter plants that I had ever started

So far this has been a good growing year. no flooding rains like the last 3 years so far and everything is looking great so far.

Sunday, July 10 View Page
I'm liking what I see in the grafted plants so far. They seem to grow a little faster and look a little stronger than a non grafted plant.

Well I think my garden season is about over now, back in July we had a company called Tribar a manufacturing company spill or dump 1,000's of gallons of chromium into the sewer system here in wixom. This company was caught dumping another toxic chemicals into the sewers a few years ago and then it passed through the Milford water treatment plant. Well needless to say my garden is only a half mile from this company and the wetlands that I water from go right up to the back of this company. So to make a long story short my family will not eat anything from my garden this year untill I can get the water tested for toxic chemicals so I pretty much abandoned my garden since the end of July. The tomatoes that I am picking to weight were tomatoes that were already on the plants when all this started last month. Since then a ground hog has moved into my garden and is digging tunnels in it. So now my garden is turning into a disaster now.

Saturday, August 27 View Page
The ground hog has taken over my garden and he has eaten at least 30 tomatoes allready

Saturday, August 27 View Page
I covered many of my squash incase I found the garden to be safe but the ground hog is getting them now too

This may bey last year growing a garden. I still need to get my water that I use tested for any toxic chemicals whitch I haven't gotten around to yet. Meanwhile over the 3 day weekend squirrels managed to eat every sunflower that I had. I was planning on saving some of the seeds but now they are all gone in just 3 days

Tuesday, September 6 View Page
Hard to believe that a squirrel can eat every seed in one weekend

Tuesday, September 6 View Page
I also have a groundhog making a home in my garden

Tuesday, September 6 View Page
The groundhog has eaten almost every squash that I had on my vines

Tuesday, September 6 View Page
Also strong storms blew over or snapped about 5 sunflowers before the squirrels finished off the rest of them. Needless to say I have been beaten down and I'm not sure if I have the desire to go through this anymore ????

This is my Mike DeMars eggplant that I grew in his honor. Thanks to Ned for getting me his seeds to plant. I just dug it up and brought it into the house for the winter, I hope I can keep it alive to next year.
