Trying to figure this 'Grower diary' out. Texas weather is beautiful. High temps of 70 degrees with night time temps in the high 40's and low 50's. Planted two of my 521 Maydan ggs. Might be early but I need to beat the Texas heat. Gonna plant 6 more in the next few days. Growing marrows too, seed hasn't come up yet. The plan is to get a pollination in mid to late April. Hopefully a pumpkin/squash ready to weigh in july- early august. No weigh offs here in Texas, I don't think there are any weigh offs anywhere in July, just gonna have a contest with myself i guess. The heat has gotten the best of my plants in the previous two years. Took out my plants before I could pollinate a fruit. Have a total of 15 plants started. Five 584 Maydan ggs, four 521 mayday ggs, two 675 Maydan gas, and four 1014 Maydan gp. Why so many? Looking for the best plants. Gonna plant the eight best, have eight backups just in case. When the eight chosen ones reach about 6 foot, then I will choose the best 4. Can't take care of eight. Don't think I can handle 4 but, I want to leave some room for error on my part. Plus, I want the strongest plants in the end. Here we go. Now it starts.
