I've just realised that Google must have updated their mapping and I found an aerial view of last year's patch. You can clearly see the mildew starting up at the south end of the patch and it eventually spreads right through the whole patch. Why it starts up at that end I don't know but it's done that the last two years, i probably sound a little incompetent when I say I don't really spray for it but try keeping up with vine burying/weeding 20 plants (there's only so many hours in a day). The field pumpkins always get the worst end of the patch (I've got my priorities right!)
