Rate of growth. There is a bit of senescence that happens by DAP 12, similar to tomatoes, and not too dissimilar from pumpkins. Its particularly easy to calculate this in a long gourd because its growth is linear. The growth rate was roughly linear, too, at about 20% until it shut off then it decayed (declined) exponentially.
What this implies practically is it should be possible to judge the potential of a gourd by DAP 11 or so, after that its just getting ot to the finish line.
Growing at an angle: My gourd trough isnt slippery enough so the gourd is getting a bit of scoliosis now. Its costing a small amount of length.
