Last apple pic I promise. A very hungry caterpillar got into my apples!

A few fruit trees (or just one!) can can really add some calories onto the self reliance scorecard. The variety here is Akane. It produces well every year. Quite a bit of trouble with worm trails in them though, this year! So theyre all going to become cider.
Another variety, liberty, is blemish free but the skins are thicker (too thick for fresh eating, imho) so they are going to be pie apples.
The second half of September has been warm and dry. Feels like summer, still.
