Steinfriendīs belt works. The first day was a bit disappointing, it looked like the fruit had stopped growing, but in fact the string had to develop some tension first. Thereafter, it was possible to watch the fruit grow. Here you can see the spacing between the first knots (3 days in between and, because of the aforementioned reason, worth two days of growth), and it was fun to check the knots again this morning to see that growth continued nicely overnight.
