It's been a tough year for my sunflower efforts. We had some started in ground and the Robins got 3 of them. So we planted again in the ground. Three of the four are still going. Then I planted 6 more that haven't germinated. Last Saturday I made a last ditch effort and started 6 in the house. Three germinated and I planted one in an Earthbox (self watering container) and two in a 30 gallon grow bag (2.3 cubic ft of potting soil).
Two of the in ground plants are looking strong so far. I'm hoping for something out of the ones in containers but can't be too sure of anything. The cold weather into June put things behind and it's been tough to catch up.
I used some Dr. Earth organic tomato fertilizer and some 5-5-5 in the 30 gallon grow bag. We'll see how it goes.
