In wet western Washington, fruit trees seem to benefit from having the roots be able to access dry dirt? In this case, the dry dirt under the barn. Even with heavy rains there will be a zone of drier soil under the barn and certain minerals will be more available to the roots simply because of how dry the soil is. I have not pruned (since 2023) nor fertilized this tree so I think it has the best & largest cherries because its roots have direct access to all the dry dirt under the barn!
