Soil temp in tomato hut 67 degrees. Boron is still low. But no BER yet... Some of the largest megas didnt grow and I think this was mostly an issue of boron, possibly phosphorus, possibly calcium, possibly poor pollination. But the majority of the first truss megas are actually growing. I can't beat myself too much about the results so far. Not sure any of them will be a pb but I think I can surely beat 5.01, which is our previous best for a first truss tomato. I'm satisfied with this result.

Final thought: Often things like tomatoes dont really grow well here until July. Not sure how much the weather was a factor this year though since summer started a month early. But in the future I might want better soil temps and/or daytime temps & humidity control, or to start a bit later. There is a sweet spot where these things just want to grow. Its an uphill battle if the soil temps, soil moisture, and soil biology just arent ready. A cover crop might help get the soil biology ready.
