Okay iPhone users, I finally tracked down the primary source of the "strange" characters appearing in diary and message board posts! Apple is literally changing what you type into your iPhone. They are changing certain punctuation characters into other characters "so they look better". Trouble is, those "pretty" quotes and other special characters to not play nice here. There was even some users who could not sign into the site on their phones because they had a quote in their password and Apple was changing it!! Apple is a billion dollar corporation and they write code like this?!?!
Please go into your iPhone settings and turn Smart Punctuation off!
Tap Settings, General, Keyboard to get there.
