I just got back from the Woodstock fair. Gene and company run a great weigh off. It was my first time! They took the time to make a colorful label for the melon. Helping to educate the fair goers, hopefully will encourage future Giant watermelon growers to pursue this hobby. This melon was grown on my 198 ciesielski from last year. (232 Williams x open). I was super pleased with the weight. It gives me hope that I may hit 200 pounds this year. I am worried though.. I have a hungry bear visiting my yard. Over the weekend when I was away on a short vacation. he stripped a peach tree in my yard. he ripped the branches off and made a big old mess! Nothing was left on the tree when I got back from the white mountains in New Hampshire.
