So what we are really talking about when we speculate whether or not a cracked vine will repair itself can be seen in this pic. Will the little tubes which transport fluids in the plant (the phloem and the xylem) repair themselves or not when broken? That is the question. If you think about it like a graft, then the answer must be YES. But it is hard to believe that they can ever be as good as they were before the crack occurred. What do you think?
