Before there was abundant processed food there was very little type 2 diabetes. Dr Lustig makes the excellent point that type 2 diabetes should be renamed "processed food disease". Please watch here : https://youtu.be/f1oRlVKwrio

There are some rare instances when "processed" with modern technology actually delivers a superior product. For example, you might call freeze dried raspberries "processed". Or a hashbrown patty that contains only potato "processed". But they're more or less untainted with anything that would give you diabetes.

There's a lot of insidious stuff to watch out for. Eating healthy is boring but if you can cut out the food that your body is addicted to and just eat (boring) clean food for a few days, your body can heal. A diet of just bad processed food will kill you.

I eat a very clean diet out of a desire to survive. I was diagnosed with terminal oral cancer over 12 years ago & told I would be doing good to live 5 more years. By eating correctly & doing a few other things correctly I am now feeling great & hoping for a lot more good years before I go to meet my Maker.

The only good thing about processed food besides being convenient and sometimes cheap is it often has (artificially added) phosphorus which I can never seem to get enough of lol! We gotta eat. I'm trying to not let my appetite get the best of me though...

So much sugar and sodium in processed foods. If people would take the time to count how much sugar they ingest over a day with every meal and snack, obesity and type 2 diabetes would be down.

It's easy to look at a label and see only 100 calories and 3 grams of sugar, but when you eat 5 servings it adds up fast.

Personally, I'd "like" to cut back on liquor due to potential insulin resistance, but I do not see that happening in the happening... ever.
