If any of the newer growers on this web site would like to build their seed collections with top genetics.

A visit to http://www.cwpg.org/SeedAuction.html
Would be a wise move. We have some top name seeds that are going for bargain prices. For less than the price of a case of beer you can can get some pretty dam good seed.

Check it out you will be suprised!!!

Remember only a few days left to bid.

How does a first time grower determine what a quality seed is? Need a shortcut! As a new grower, the names don't mean much too me as I don't recognize them. I tend to look at a seed purchase by looking at the number of the seed (weight). Is there a guide out there that can help me pick a particular seed based on the type of pumpkin I want to grow? For instance, I would like something capable of 500 pounds, deep orange, and will grow in a more rounded shape as opposed to flat....

1320,

The grower's auctions are a great way for clubs to raise money and a good way to acquire a certain seed that you yearn for, BUT.............

There are many great seeds out there to try, many free from the grower for only the cost of postage. 500 pounds (and more) will come when the soils is built up and "in tune". I have noticed that you can pretty well determine a "well rounded" pumpkin by it's shape when it's about softball size. Nice and round usually grows a nice round pumkin, foot ball shaped or flatter, will usually end up longer or flatter.(There are exceptions to every rule!) I've got some seeds with excellent genetics that should grow you a nice round orange fruit. E-mail me if you'd like some.

At the CWPG Auction I like the 782.5 Stucker, 783 Daletas, 1304 LaRue for big and orange. Lot 33 has a few good ones for big orange also 820 Glisczinski, 857 Nueville and 730 Nueville.
I think I'm going to grow a kilr pumpkin seed this year
440 Kilbert, same cross as the 782.5 Stucker
