I am new to pumpkin growing so please bear with me. I have two vines growing in what I now know to be too small a space. The problem... my vines have grown over the border wall of my garden and the "association" has mowed over the ends of my bigger vine. It was 11 feet in length with no secondaries, but it had one female and three more on the way. The vine was mangled 5-6 inches from the female. The smaller vine was mowed over also but it's some kind of mutant less than half the size of the larger one. Didn't expect much from it. What do I do with the end of the vine to prevent damage to my only female and how do I encourage more females to grow, if possible? Any help would be appreciated. Man this pumpkin stuff is addictive. I am in love with this site! Thanks, Blackthumb

you dont have any secondairies? soometimes if the plant still has lots of energy and you foliar feed it with miracle it might start poping new heads out of vines

Thanks Benface! I did what you suggested and what were once little stubs are now the begginings of three secondary vines with one more female so far. Now I can sleep at night again!
