Anyone else out there paranoid about powdery mildew?

Even with my preventative measures, I'm still checking my leaves about twice a day. Am I being overprotective about this?

I sprayed about 4 times, and I got SVB and powdery mildew. I guess some people are luckier than others. Good luck
I plan to spray a whole lot more next year. M

Ben - I'd give it a spray if you have a chance. (more safe than sorry) This is the primetime for PM. It really likes the damp & over crowded conditions. It is taking longer for the leaves to dry from the morning dew since it is not as warm in the a.m.

I'm having a hard time deciding if I have it since I did so much foliar fertilizing.(small white spots, maybe dried fert) I guess time will tell if it spreads throughout the patch. Seems as if I'm pretty much done anyways. Very limited growth this last week. We need some rain to help us out and a little warmer temps.

As for pesticide, I only dusted w/ sevin a couple of times.
That was when I saw a few cucumber beetles. No other pest probs were evident.

CEIS, look on the undersides of the leaves, powdery & downy mildew both usually start there. If yellow or brown rough spots on the underside correspond to spots on the topside, you probably have one of the two. I think Downy is brown on the tops, Powdery is white. The mildews actually need a dry leaf surface to grow/attach to; the underside is usually drier than the top so this is where it starts first. Which means it also is important that Daconil be applied to the undersides--it coats to form a barrier so the mildew can't attach & grow.

Thanks Mark - If the underside of the leaf is the true 'teller' of Powdery, then I am in the clear.

I'll still be on the lookout though.
Cheers.
