Hey I failed growing pumpkins this year but I would like to know if it is possible to pot the pumpkin plants, keep them inside all winter and then use them next year. The plants are very small and would be easy to put in a pot. Don't laugh if this sounds dumb. I don't know much about pumpkins.

I wasn't thinking about cloning since my plants are small. Hey LIpumpkin do you clone?

Aussie,
Even though your plants are small, they (with luck), will continue to grow inside during the winter. Just type "cloning" in the search box for more info on "cloning".

well I'm not sure if the plant is alive anymore. It has already been through a frost and its leaves are brown. The one thing that makes me think its alive is that part of what's left of the vine is green. I already transplanted it, so I will know in the next few weeks if it can recover.

Those of you who clone their plants successfully (G, kilr): maybe you can publish a short "how-to" in the BP section. I did it with 5 new vines 2 weeks before the plant was removed, but there wasn´t a single root inside the planting box and they all died.

Floh - Just some questions to think about: Did the vines have a root system when you harvested them? Did you let the soil dry out? Did you fertilize w/phosphorus?
