How do you figure or find out the % heavy a pumpkin is. I noticed you can't always get the size and weight to figure it out. (That is how you figure it isn't it???) Do you guys/gals just know which pumpkins were thicker/heavier or what. Is there a list available or could you share your knowledge of which pumpkins are more % thick/heavy? Any assistance is appreciated. Can I figure it out on the AGGC site or what???? What are some pumpkins??? HELP??? Thanks, Diane

Diane, There is a section on the AGGC site where the OTT measurement & the estimated weight is logged next to the actual weight & a percent heavy or light entry. I'll navigate that site & see what steps I have to use to get there.

OK. When you first log on, the pumpkins are on the left side of the screen. I clicked Charley Houghtion's 1337. To the right opens the statistics screen. About 5 lines down, just below - SITE "Topsfield" is the following:
Weight "1337" Est. Weight "1230.4" (8.66% over estimate) The size data appears on the line immediatelt below.
I didn't look, but I believe all officially weighed pumpkins include this data.

Diane, here's a few examples. The 1230 Daletas was estimated at 1470.4 lbs or 16.35% under. So, 1230 divided by 1470.4 = .8365 Now move the decimal to 83.65 then take 100 minus 83.65 = 16.35%. Now for a heavy one like the 1156 Larson which was 22% heavy estimated at 946 lbs, you take 1156 divided by 946 = 1.22 drop the 1 and move the decimal and you get 22%. This is from a guy who sucks at math so I hope I'm right. Good luck, Randoooo

Thank you very much I really appreciate it. I did not know how to figure it out but I would love that information on some of the pumpkin seeds I have or I am suppose to have coming. I heard it can make a difference in the weight of your grown pumpkin. Thanks,

Hey Diane, OTT measurements is an ongoing project and the tables change with the addition of more pumpkin data. I haven't downloaded the new tables as of yet but with the new data added OTT measurements will change as to weight estimates and could alter the percentage heavy and light. Chuck
