I have 300 sq. feet of space wich i just put 480 pounds of organic humus and manure in. My question is how many giant pumpkin plants can i fit without over crouding them??? And also what is the most efficient way to water them if i dont have a soaker or drip hose?
thanx for your help!

The average size of a patch to grow a big one is usually 400 to 1000 sq ft per plant, however some very nice fruit have been grown in smaller areas. So to answer your question, you really only have room for one Atlantic Giant pumpkin plant. Better get it going soon, it is getting quite late. Good Luck.

Plant two at opposite ends and cull to one...that way you'll have two for pollenation and a backup just in case something happens to one of them! Good Luck! Grow em Big! Chuck

Aren't many choices left for watering. Overhead!! Plan on providing up to fifty gallons a day when the full plant is working to make your fruit.

I have tried for several years to grow three plants in the same size patch, and the best I have done is 422 lbs. This year I intend to have two plants that I will eventually cull to one in the hopes of finally growing a big one.

It's just not enough space to grow more than one if you want to grow a really big pumpkin, but if you would be satisfied with 300 to 400 pound pumpkins, then I would say that you could go with three plants (based on my results of the past few years).

that's a small patch----i'd say one plant, given the best care you can give. plenty of vine-burying. and, get a soaker hose; get 2; and a rotary sprinkler for overhead watering. you get out what you put in. maybe more!
i just Sunday got out a homemade soaker hose, two actually.
when i connected them to the supply and saw them working again, i said 'yeaaahhhh, that's gonna work!' for my tomato patch, anyway... 50', 1/2-inch cheap garden hose....
with about a 3/16 or thereabouts hole drilled in it at about every foot, straight up or at a little angle alternating right, left, etc. more pressure available?
more holes, always with fertilizer in the water, as specified in the Don Langevin book volume II. hope i helped.
