Hi ! I have a few problems with choosing crosses... Here's what I'm growing : * 1107 Girgus ( 723 Bobier X self ) * 627 Pappas ( 869,5 Calai X 867 Mombert ) * 712 Kuhn ( 780 eaton X 935 Lloyd ) * 1156 Larsen ( 898 Knauss X 1062 Rivard ) * 707 Toftness ( 846 Calai X 723 Bobier ) * 618 desrosiers ( 712 Kuhn X 805 Pukos ) * 513.7 White ( 845 bobier X self ) * 926 Hester ( 712 Kuhn X 723 Bobier )
------------> WHICH CROSSES SHOULD I MAKE ???
Thanks in advance, Stijn.

I think a 926 x 712 would get you a few trades.

LOL !! That's just the problem ! I don't know which are the best plants ... I guess I have to use the 712 a lot as pollinator, or not ???
Thanks ! Love, Stijn.

Like G said: Best plant x best plant....... You don't know yet, but you will, just wait one month and you'll see which ones look healthier. You don't know which ones will be the best growers but at least you will know the healthiest ones. Remember genetics is a fairly funny Goddess.

Sorry Supergrower, I just remembered where the 712 came from,Mikkal Hodge. As such I would advise you to treat it as an unknown seed and not to use it as a pollinator and not to trade any seeds from pumpkins produced on that plant as having 712 genetics. Good luck breaking the Belgian record. Mark.

But Mikkal told me the seed is real !!! Why should he try to cheat me after what happend ??? Damned, this is a worldseed and I'm supposed to be happy, but I'm not, I had allready a lot of troubles with the 712 !!!! Wish I never recieved it !!! This is probably my best seed and I wanted to use it a lot as pollinator.... Damned Mikkal ! IS THERE ANYONE OUTHERE WHO CAN PROOVE FOR 100 % THE TRUE IDENTITY OFF THE SEED ??????????????????????????????????????? I really don't know what to do ... I will pray to God tonight, perhaps he knows what to do...
Bye.

* 1107 Girgus ( 723 Bobier X self ) * 627 Pappas ( 869.5 Calai X 867 Mombert ) * 1156 Larsen ( 898 Knauss X 1062 Rivard ) * 707 Toftness ( 846 Calai X 723 Bobier ) * 618 desrosiers ( 712 Kuhn X 805 Pukos ) * 513.7 White ( 845 bobier X self ) * 926 Hester ( 712 Kuhn X 723 Bobier ) These are all excellent seeds. You should be very happy. The 618 & 926 have the 712 Kuhn genetics. The 1107 Girgus has the 723 Bobier genetics. I could go on with each seed you have. Just look at the exceptional genetics of every seed you have. You can beat the record with any of the seeds you have. I am going to follow the advice of the experienced growers and go with best plant x best plant. I have two plants that are outgrowing the rest already those are the ones I will use the most for pollinating.

my first pollination for each of my plants will be a selfed cross if possible--it's also more convenient that first time around---EVERYONE wants selfed crosses someday when the original seed is depleted from reserves...lol
you're growing two plants that are FROM selfed crosses--- case in point.
if i were to suggest what i plan to do it would be to make a chart....all plants across the top, all along the side, and rows and columns on there as well---a Punnett square of sorts....then you'll have a convenient depiction of what's going on in the genetics realm of your patch, at a glance... (yes, i agree, fantastic seeds you have planted!) as nature decides for you or you HAVE TO cull them away, by letting them get big enough to have mature seeds in them, it is not as great a loss when you cull them because you now have the seeds from the crosses...try not to stress about the crosses too much---there will be many factors at work throughout the season---AND>>>if the legendary 'false 712 Kuhn' turns out to be the real thing, or an unexpectedly vigorous plant with a 1220-pounder on it, well, that'll be interesting! and i'll want some of the seeds! anyway, i hope my blabbering here helps you somehow....
