Joey,,if your patch prep is in top shape,,and all conditions are good,,,,4-500 shouldnt be out of the question for you..Now,,this is my thought,,I'm from the far south,,so maybe a HH from your area will may think else wise..They will definetly know more than I..But I think you are ok.. ;)

With the cold weather up here in MA my plants really took sometime to get going. So your really not that far behind. Get them in the ground ASAP and you should be able to pull off a 300 pounder.

You'll be fine Jesse, 300+ is easily possible. That 840 should throw you a good one.

Joey,

Are they up yet? How big?

Don't overdo anything trying to catch up. Everyone in CT is at least a little behind this year. Don't sweat it.
If you haven't gotten Don Langevin's books yet, do it soon. His second edition has a very good fertilizer program in it that will be perfect for you.

Keep it simple. Steady wins the race!

The 840 i have is my only survivor and its not out of the ground yet and i am getting a little worried... its got a large round white thing for a root but know root hairs could this be why its taking so long. i also found this kinda of root on one of my field pumpkins.

Hey Joey - When you are at the opening or home screen of BP.Com there is an amazon.com link.

I think "pumpkins" is in there already.

You can get the books from there or even direct from Don himself. I can't remember the link exactly..... do a search for "Don Langevin" and I'm sure that it will come up.

I think Don's site is giantpumpkin.com.

I heard that he will even sign your books for you.

The 3rd edition is being written and compiled now.

Joey, Sorry to hear your 392.5's went to mush. I planted a ton of them and had a 99% germination with them. The 392.5 was grown on a plant that was only a couple feet long on July 4th and it was grown in the yard (100% in the grass) and was only allowed to get @ 300 sqft. Don't give up, 300- 500 lbs should be within your reach. Mike Frantz
