Hello,

Picked up some Sevin today to get rid of some nasty earwigs that are hanging out and eating my leaves (I think) something is eating them anyway....

I dusted the plants, but my question is what happens when you water?? Does it all come off? Do you need to re-apply? Does it get absorbed into the plant?

Dusted the leaves, shoud I apply anywhere else? Noticed a few leaves that have been munched on, and the earwigs have alredy claimed a few of the flowers in the backyard.

Thanks again!

Typically yes. Dusts do wash of with rain. Not usually all at once. And much of what appears to be missing is actually just the carrier. So the active ingredient is mostly still intact. But.........

I recommend the use of emulsifiable concentrate & flowable forms of pesticides because they do stay on much much better. These contain emulsifiers & sticking agents that maintain their integrity to the tune of 95% (in most cases) even after very vigorous rain or irrigation events.

They might seem more dangerous to use. But that's not really the case. So long as gloves & care are used when mixing, the actual application is much safer. No dust blowing up your nose while applying.

You'd also have more choices as to ingredients. Sevin (carbaryl) is known to exaserbate mites by killing off predators. It can also cause trouble on the new growth on pumpkins.

Whatever you use, please be sure to read & understand all label instructions on any pesticide before hand.

Be safe & fruitful!

Steve
