Well I'm starting some standard Dill's this year just to get something going. I know this things take a lot of water but you aren't suppose to keep watering if the dirt is already wet right? Plus I've heard AG's can take gallons of water a week? The dirt on my property is good enough that I may not even bother fertilizing this time around. Also I'm going to need something to prevent PM later in the season...is there something you can buy at like Walmart for that? My budget is not really existent.

They need an average of 1" of water every week. That works out to about 90 gal every day on 1000 sq ft. A good starting point is 10 gal per 100 sq ft of plant. You can get Daconil at Lowe's for the PM, it usually doesn't prevent it for me though. I'm not sure if a big box store has anything else or not

Adding onto Jeff's point, people are shocked if you say you put down 120 gallons per plant every day. But that's 120 gallons over 1000 square feet. The amount you water is directly proportional to size, and is the same as you would do for most any other garden fruit or veg. If you just wanted to grow a 150 square foot plant, then it would only be 20 gallons a day on average.

And when we say 10 gal per 100 SF, that's when there's actually fruits developing? I can't imagine dumping that much on sprouts.

Yes, I get my drip lines down usually a week before pollination. Before that, it's just a watering can when they're little when needed.

And watering depends on the soil. In dry conditions and well drained soil, those numbers above may not be enough. In clay soil, it might be overkill.
