Hi everyone, I have a question for you. Do all the seeds of a pumpkin have the same opportunity to grow a record pumpkin like her mother or father? Thank you in advance to everyone who will reply at this message and will help me to figure out on how works genetics.

Still, some seeds from the same pumpkin can be better than others, like tall and short siblings from the same family. That is why people like "proven" seeds, or seeds that consistently produce big ones. Sometimes there will be a rare dud.

More important to have the same soil that the parent was grown in..

Each seed out of a promising cross can have the potential to grow similar to its parents.Sometimes the cross works out as planned sometimes it doesn't. Also there is quite a bit a variation from seed to seed because most ag seeds haven't been line bred for 3 or more generations. As somebody already said proven seeds are in high demand for that reason.

I look at pumpkin seeds like baby pigs. There usually is a runt in every litter. But with good breeding you can increase the chances of getting a really good one.
