I got the results from the first soil test on my 400 sq. ft. patch back today (see below). I'm getting 2 yards of composted horse manure tilled in this evening. pH is quite a bit higher than where I want it. Is elemental sulfur the best way to get pH down, and does adding 10 lbs seem reasonable? Trying to use the Team Pumpkin amendment spreadsheet and the PGPGA's soil study for instruction, but any suggestions would be appreciated.

pH: 7.7
Organic matter: 4.9%
Phosphorus ppm: 25
Potassium ppm: 118
Sulfur SO4-S PPM: 7
Magnesium ppm: 415
Calcium ppm: 2252
Boron (ppm): 0.5
Copper (ppm): 2.0
Iron (ppm): 48.9
Manganese (ppm): 9.6
Zinc (ppm): 6.9

Email Joe Ailts, SCGA president at Joeailts@gmail.com with your soil report attached. I am a rookie grower too and he told me how much of what to order based on my soil report. He's the resident soil expert.

I was at the growers meeting this spring and heard Joe's talk--was super informative. I just don't have my notes on me being at work.

I was at the meeting too. My soil report is in my grower diary along with a few other things you might think about. Feel free to email me at wcoyote02@yahoo.com. I've probably asked myself the same questions that you might have.

Ailts likes ph 6.5 so lots of elemental sulfur which your low in. Try to build manganese way up - ideal is even with your iron levels.
