Altitude (to)maters (Scott)

Colorado

This is what I do for fun. I love numbers and statistics. When I made this it was only for my own personal use but after reading this board I figure some others might find it interesting. It took me several evenings to compile from the GPC weighoff stats.

(I make no guarantee to the accuracy of the numbers) *after staring at numbers for hours and hours there may be a small mistake or two use at your own risk* :)

Enjoy

scott....it took me about 2 seconds to scan this...if you gave me a quiz I would get 0% Many growers here..might spend hours trying to digest. I hope to meet you in real someday. Watch your health...don't let your passion destroy you. Nutrients..a bit of shuteye...many in the giant world are riding the line between benifit -hurt.

Please don't take offense..you show great promise....take care of yourself first

Thanks bnot Ill heed the advice. Crunching numbers keeps my mind sharp. Besides I don't have a choice because... In 2019 I went to a pumpkin weigh off here in Colorado for the first time. My wife loves Halloween (I mean...come on who doesn't) so I figured Id find something festive to do. My mind was blown, the pumpkins looked totally fake they were so huge!!!! We spent all day there it was awesome. We watched each pumpkin get weighed. I listened to the announcer describe the stats, the genetics etc, it intrigued me to say the least. pollinated in july???? These things grow that big in 3 months???? No way.... It put me on the path to a bunch of research to answer the 5 quatrillion questions I had. I watched the seed auctions in the winter (more numbers. YES!). Studied the genetics trees....the weights etc.

long story short. I've been a lurker long enough this year I'm growing something big. I know tomatoes and don't have the room for a pumpkin so bring it on.

Okay, I lernt my lesson the last time I commented on your aspirations. You are doing a good thing and I shouldn't be driving NOR typing at the moment, lol! So, when I look at my 401k, IRA or any stock/currency/values chart, the only thing I can really understand is a GRAPH - seeing what happened between here1 and here2 and what COULD happen between here2 and...there1. I would LOVE to see a GRAPH of your weigh (yes, weigh) of passing the time - It is of no consequence to ME, for I need to simply put into growing giants what I want to see the results of, but, for a crazy example, rocket scientists are probably hardly-known...but one of their rockets? - A sight and force to behold and be in 'AWWWWWWE!!!' of! Food for thought, lol---eric g

Very cool. You probably use https://tools.pumpkinfanatic.com/index.php a lot?
What I would like to know is which seeds have produced the most 2000lb+ pumpkins.
Might take a while to work that out lol

'Bring it on?' Ummm, 1100-plus (the record on the Home Page) are being grown in 150 square feet, as a challenge on BP; For the mere asking, eligible seeds from 50 - 100 growers could be at your disposal, lol---eric g

pumpkinpal2...just need to get creative and wire a vehicle interlock to your keypad

i would bet scott has seeds from more than 50-100 growers available for the asking. Hard effort should be rewarded.

Lol, but thanks, Ken D., bnot and all - I get misterconstrued (a man misunderstood, ha ha) easily; I was in my house and would never drive and type but see now how that would have come across. Well, if he grows a pumpkin, we'll know allllllllllll about it, and look forward to the 'curves' of the data, lol---eg

I don't have room to grow a pumpkin. At least not correctly. My wife grows pumpkins each year. Just let's them grow across our lawn. I will be growing a tomato. I've been growing and cloning tomatos for years. So at least I have a good foundation to grow a giant tomato. So we will see. It should be fun

Scott, I graduated college the year before they added biostatistics to the required curriculum for Biology Majors. THANK GOD!

I have an interesting statistical challenge for you. List how many 1000lb pumpkins were recorded before 1,500lb was achieved, how many 1,500lb pumpkins were recorded before 2,000lb was achieved and so on up the ladder. Or maybe use increments of 250 lb. instead of 500 lb. The intention would be to Nostradamus the timing of the 3,000 pounder. What do you think?

This is only AG pumpkins no squash.
The best place to see when the 3000lb mark will be broken is the chart ken posted showing the WR for each year. The above numbers are just a general over view of each year. If you look closely you will see 2019 was a tough year. The numbers are just for fun and to give perspective to how things have progressed year to year.
