I noticed listings of the 154.75 Ansems long gourd and 152.25 Yohe long gourd, both entered in GPC contests. Several times the 152.25 Yohe is listed correctly as the USA record, however one auction has listed it as the North America record??? And the ones I seen so far offering the 154.75 Ansems has no mention of it at all such as 2021 GPC champ or Canadian and North American record! Be nice to give credit where credit is due!

Also I assume Frank Ansems graciuosly donated his seeds to some of these auctions upon being requested by the clubs? Sorry I had to bring this up, but only felt that when clubs offer seed to prospective bidders to get it right for all involved. No different than if it was any other class of seeds.

From the PGVG auction on January 7:

Lot 25: 154.75” F. Ansems – Long Gourd ’21 (136.75 Ansems x 142.25 Ansems) #1 in world 2021, 2nd all-time

Lot 24: 152.25” Yohe – Long Gourd ’21 (131 Tobeck x self) #2 in world for 2021, US record

Howard, I can assure you that PGVG appreciates all of our grower donated seeds and we do the utmost to recognize those efforts during our auctions. Furthermore, I have a particularly keen sense of respect and admiration for Long Gourd growers.

Thanks BeeDub, I know the PGVG and others got it right when listing lots and descriptions which is super. Yet a few I seen either got it wrong or an oversight perhaps? I realize it takes a lot of time and effort by the clubs to conduct an auction to raise much needed funds. Maybe some of the newer ones just need to take a little more time to proof read their lots, before posting. Best of the luck to the remaining auctions!

Ummm, been there there and done that with suggesting to fix typos and details that probably have nothing to do with the noticer/submitter in the first place. You will get your head bitten off. Just leave them be - people themselves whom are ommitted and/or misnamed/misrepresented are whom should pipe up, not any/everyone else. Friendly, humble advice. eric g

The most common omission is to not list a seed as DMG. Putting together an auction brochure is not quite the same as engineering an airplane, in other words an error here or there isnt that big a deal. But it could be frustrating if an incorrect lot description misled the bidder. I got a laugh out of one error. But... I'll say no more! (Gonna keep my clean fingers out of this sticky beehive for once.)

Agree ! A pumpkin that is DMG needs to be labeled as such. As far as credit goes . All i need to do is a Google search and all the credit in the world is right in front of my eyes and that my friends is good enough for me ,,lol
