Would a pumpkin w/ 3 seed lobes have less growth potential than one with 4 or 5 lobes?

No, it will be a longer pumpkin typically. Larger number of lobes typically mean a taller pumpkin.

Not in my experience.

I feel 3 lobers have fallen out of favor. Everyone seem to like 4's and 5's. As far as potential idk. I wouldn't hesitate to grow a 3 but I'm also very happy with 8-1200lbers.

I pollinated a nice symmetical 3 lobe blossom this morning. They are not as common as 4 or 5's but any comment that they have fallen out of favor is nonsense.

I agree with you, Dalton, and I, too, would be glad to pollinate a 3-lober, lol. It'd be neat-o to be able to cause them more often, just for fun. eg
