All of my competitive gourds are cut and done, tonight I looked at the LG plants and there are at least 10 nature polinated gourds trying to make a statement, from 10 inches to 4 feet. Anyone else experiencing the same thing? I will keep on watering/ferts until hard frost. Anything to keep the season going. lol.

               Hi Andy:
I usually have the same situation. Normally not much happens but last year I cut off my 117.38 and then my 118 appeared and grew like heck. The 117 seeds were very immature as was the LG. They were both off the same plant.

Correction, the 118 seeds were immature, the 117.38 seeds were ok.

Different strokes for different folks but this works for me. After cracking open the gourds I want seeds from, I place the ones that look healthy on a flat surface like a window screen or piece of plywood ( not touching ) and forget about them for about a month. A good dry place where they will remain undisturbed is good, last year I caught my cat sleeping on top of them. Congrats on your win in Cooperstown.

Andy Thanks for the kind words. Is it true that the seeds are mainly in the bottom 2-3 feet of the gourd? I had a bigger one, but it is still hanging. Joe Jutras by giving me a few seeds has hooked me on LGs. They are amazing ,once they start to grow in high gear!

I harvested all the gourds and am done for the year, but, yes, my plant is still growing like crazy -- flowers et. al. The moths are gone so would have to hand polinate but I'm done growing -- just the plant that isn't LOL.
