Unbelievable Dan! Keep up the hard work!

Did Eddy pay the 3K he promised at the convention years ago for the first 10 pounder, when we thought that was a huge fruit?

Eddy, some of us miss you here,,, so get back! Your facebook posts aren't enough for a guy that has all the time in the world taking the year off! lol

Those are impressive. That 16 pounder last year is one of the reasons I am growing this year

Thanks everyone for the very kind and gracious comments! It's surely been an interesting season so far, still a couple more to harvest from first planting and second planting is in now.

ahhh haaaa! I saw the pic of the 13.28 and you can see the small needle hole where the milk injector or air hose must be attached. I'm going to the hardware store today !

I bet Dan has ten pounders for sale at a little roadside stand by his house. You can buy them by the bushel or half bushel but you only get two in a half bushel and four in a full. LOL. Very impressive Dan!

Dan do you think that the first planting is more likely to produce a new record over the second planting or no real difference?

7/11/2023 12:53:17 PM

Dan Sutherland

Walla Walla Wa.

Big moon- I don't have enough experience to know, last year my first planting only produced the 9.33 and all the rest were second planting, but I had made some changes on the second planting so it's an unknown at this time.
This first planting I took the hands off approach mainly because I didn't have time to do otherwise,so I didn't do anything except water, prune, clip up vines after they had sprawled over the ground, put fruit in hammocks except one for an experiment to see if it can actually stay on the vine until harvest, so far so good at around 10 lbs guessing. No teas, amendments, foliars, nothing!

Thanks Dan it will be interesting to see how the second planting does this year compared to the first. I will also be interested in how the experiment turns out on the unsupported fruit. I would be interested to know if anyone else has tried that experiment and if the tomato did pull off?

I suspect the connection will get weaker as it turns ripe. I'd sure like to leave the singles unsupported, but if the stem tore off, would it be considered dmg?

7/12/2023 10:10:16 AM

Dan Sutherland

Walla Walla Wa.

Yes I'm sure it would be a mess if the stem gave way!
