            | Ned | Honesdale, Pennsylvania | With all the chatter of field pumpkins splitting. Do growers try and pick early when mature and attempt to store for a weigh off? I hear you can try and cure them and then store in temps around 55 degrees to hold them. I was wondering if people do this for a weigh off and is there much weight loss if you do. | 8/22/2018 9:44:39 AM |

            | Dutch Brad | Netherlands | I have done it a few times. My experience is they lose a lot of weight, depending on how long you store them. I now time all sets on the plants to be no more than 45-50 days away from the weigh-off date. Instead of taking them off, you can cut the stem half way through and leave them on the plant. | 8/23/2018 2:50:20 AM |
