So I'm assuming we treat the FP like the AG with vine burying, vine pruning, single fruit per plant etc, but what's the big boys in FP square footage per plant? How about irrigation amounts? Still going on 600 gallons per 1,000dqft is an inch or water and giving an inch of water per week? I'm in the mountains of NC and there's lots of commercial pumpkin fields in the area so I want to go all in on FPs in 2024.

Well that is definitely less space than I imagined.
Are there still the same concerns as th AG with to much rain causing splitting etc?

All in all for me, I'd say 3-4 weeks later on anything like planting out and sprouting and half the space of an AG and I'll be bringing it up until I get burned to always water with full-strength ferts, especially after a rain because although the rain is essential if not watering regularly, it is also pretty much neutral other than what came with it out of the sky, which can probably vary from day to day: pollen, weed seeds, atmospheric elements and whatever else.

I'd like to think up a new slogan rather than 'If you ain't blowin' 'em', lol, with all due respect, butt yeah, they can have that same issue, although it did not happen to me...I think ANY grower and any fruit will 'tell' you to be consistent with the watering, ferts applied or not.

I'm no one to talk butt I know that III should listen to me, lol!!!

I had TWO 42-pounders - EXACTLY the same weight and plant and bigger, taller and so forth than on the other 3 plants I had from my '21' seed from the '23 growing year and I just got them dried and am germinating one that sank - ONE out of like 300 seeds...to be germed and able to exhibit no concern about sinking, waterlogged seeds...

Judging by the others' numbers above,
THERE'S your actual technical team, lol, but I will keep working on it.

Last year I had a 47.5 pounder from my 37# seed that I think I sold and forfeited the seeds from...
In any event, bury the vines, fert massively and DO plant in FULL sun. Later---Movie Time! eric g

Uhhh, 'until I get burned' means
'until I see my FPs blowin' up in the morning sun, lol.
I wonder if anyone has captured a fruit on film while actually exploding by rapid growth. Hmmm...Good Luck! eg

Ernie, if rain makes your pumpkin split your soil is too dry. You will swear at me and thank me. I split field pumpkins regularly that way but thats what you need to do. I try to enjoy the ride. Live dangerously.

Mark, I'm assuming that's per plant? So you still shoot for 1 fruit per like with the AG? Set several and then cull?
Don, do you use drip irrigation and push the hard or do you mean some times soil gets to dry and a heavy rain can split them?
