Some of these large gourds need 140 160 day growing season. Is anyone getting ready to start some bushel seed? I might start some soon. What say you?

I run my bushel gourds right along with the giant pumpkins.

I think your actually to early. They don’t do well with cooler temps. They are better off being planted a little later than pumpkins and fruit only need 45 to 70 days. Still some debate on that though.

I think 45-70 days is right on the money going by past experience. Any longer than that and they start to dry out and lose weight. I don't think an early start is really an advantage. My plants sit and do nothing until July when they really take off. I've had my heaviest fruit from Late July/Early Aug pollinations.

Ditto, i start in may. ready in sept. so unless you need them earlier and have warm temps, i would not put outside earlier.
