My gut feeling is that bushel gourds have the genetics to grow bigger than any watermelon ever could. I would be very surprised to see giant watermelons ever surpass the giant bushel gourd again. I bet we see a 500 pound bushel gourd with in the next five years! It just took a few years to get growers interested in them and growing BG's. We are still learning a lot about them.
