I tried to germinate 4 seeds last year from to different gourds with no luck just wondering what is the best way I soaked for 24 hours and germ chamber was at 86 degrees

Seems like some of the gourds like a warmer germination temp. I've only grown them once and had difficulty getting them to go also. Think I read it's better in the 90-95 range but will let the people who's grown them more give you better advice.

I germ alot of gourd seeds for grafting purposes. Probably over 100 a year. Bushel gourds, pear gourds, and commerical gourds and they all seem to like 92°. Bushel gourds are normally the slowest to germ. Some take 10 days to sprout some 3 days. I normally soak mine 2 hours. I did accidentally soak some long gourd seeds for 24 hrs once. Long gourds always take forever to germ for me, like 10 days. Those I soaked for 24 hrs popped up in 2 days. Coincidence maybe... May have germed quick anyway. Just my experiences.

BG's have a really hard seed coat.

8 hour soak..90 degrees and drier soil than for pumpkins. They seem to like a little surface light also

Just an FYI. Last year I tried to germ bushel gourds and had no luck. After I shut down all my seedling grow stuff. I went in the basement 2 weeks later and to clean up. there was a gourd sprouting. No heat no water no light. Didn’t grow very well but I was surprised that neglected and it still sprouted.
