I am very curious why? I have been pondering what to do with them. Cut em...leave them? Now this new suggestion, please elaborate. Much appreciated

Interesting... I still snap them off young, doesn't seem to harm them, what's the reasoning for this being better?

The tendrils support and anchor the plant. Very important for those of us not burying vines. You are 100% correct.

The tendrils are modified leaves but I doubt that they contribute for growing but never say never. The reason for not cutting them off is to prevent open wounds that can give friendly fungal pathogens the perfect opportunity to enter our plants. We only crack the odd one or two Also, think about it, pumpkin plants have tendrils for a reason so very good point Don.
