Maybe I could let tertiary vines fill that space?

I'd let the tertiary vines on the secondaries before and after the two missing ones fill in that space. It's still early enough to let a bit more plant grow and have a pumpkin further out where those 2 missing vines won't matter so much.

I think, I'll go the tertiary route. This is my rookie year and cutting the main is too difficult for me to stomach! It's so close to the 20 foot mark, about 15 feet long and the weather has finally turned for the better.
