Just want to say the potting mix I made has a composted forest floor debris base (mostly old conifer needles) rather than peat moss. After sitting for 6+ months, in addition to the time it sat on the ground, its inert and similar to peat moss. I think its clever and sustainable? But I will never attempt to commercialize it beyond my own use. Someone else can try to figure that out.

The secret is to repulverize it (I use a good little lawn mower) and recompost it more than once. It gets to have a nice soft texture.
