So the question remains..did you change anything or did you replant in the same soil that failed to produce secondaries? I leaning towards decreased temperatures equal decreased nutrients uptake resulting in decreased growth. What is your take?

Hi Berggren. Sorry for just seeing this now. I planted the plants in the same spot as the first ones that also failed to produce. After the 10 foot mark on the first plants the secondary's did seem better but I pulled those plants as I didn't think id have the same issue again with this plant but I did up until the 6-7 foot mark as the secondary's you see here are at 7 feet where they begin. I took a soil test and the test came back normal except my zinc was very high for some reason and I am not sure why as my test in the spring came back low on the zinc. I didn't add anything with zinc in the planting area so I am not sure where the high levels came from. I did look up if zinc can cause stunted growth and the answer google said was yes. One thing I did this year is I went pretty heavy on the seven powder in the planting holes. I did look it up after and the seven powder can also kill a plant and cause very stunted growth if over applied which I do think I applied too much without realizing. Next year I won't be applying seven in the planting holes and will see if that helps but the high zinc out of nowhere is strange which could be part of what the problem was

Mancozeb has zinc. Don't know what else might.

Agree with your thoughts on the Seven, that could be the problem. I would guess the zinc could be from your shovel or whatever tool you used to take the soil sample, one tiny flake could skew the lab test significantly.
