Not much to do now except maybe save some of the seeds if you like the cross. Try, try again.

My condolences. My 2144 plant has only given me abnormally shaped white bumpy pumpkins so far this year but it has had stellar growth genes, a real monster. It's an awesome cross you have there so be sure to save those seeds if they are mature as they will be future champs with those stellar Barron and Patton genes nicely combined.

The 2144 I grew last year in an outside patch, outpaced my pumpkins in the greenhouse. Had the same shape as yours and cracked in the same spot at 1000 lbs. The 2144's growing in our area have been problematic this year. A tough seed to grow. Condolences !

Thank you all for your kind thoughts. Quidditch ended up a a quite ridiculous DAP54 2228lbs and packed on 219lbs in the last 4 days. The only good news is that we got some nice seeds. Ian

That truly is ridiculous big time, unreal when you think about it at this stage of the game. Nice to hear about the seeds. Danny

Oph, sorry to see that. On my 2144 I've had about 15 abnormally shaped white bumpy pumpkins that aborted. They all followed the same strange pathology. I finally have one at DAP 17. Hoping it sticks. The plant itself is very large and an aggressive grower.
