My son wants to grow WM next year. Do all the nodes root like pumpkins?

Very few will root. I typically only allow the crown to have roots. Although I believe someone could probably grow a world record if they grew a non grafted melon on clean soil and got it to root in many places. We all pretty much grow on some sort of plastic ground cover. Which prevents roots from growing down.
