That's the right attitude Keith! So much to learn, even in a rough year. Keep on growing! Come to the annual conference in UT and you will learn even more and meet lots of growers.

Sorry you didn't land a keeper. Southern Ohio was tough early season growing this year. Good reflection on the season, sounds like you're reset and ready to kick butt next year.

Oh there will be soil tests for sure. I did them 4 times this season and plan to take another this fall and apply more gypsum.

YVD got both my plants last year, and one this year. I believe they were infected very early, and the disease takes a while to show up. My plant that did not get YVD was started 2 weeks later as a back up, probably after the first was infected. Early season bug protection as soon as they're in the ground may help. Sounds like you have a good plan for the future!

Interesting about the high phosphorus. I don't know what the exact issue would be, except possibly zinc as you mention. Guessing the effects would depend on the ph of the soil?

I've been doing a bit more reading about high phosphorus, sounds like zinc and iron tie up might be the biggest issues. I think if I raise my zinc levels and supplement micros I would likely be fine. Adding manure would be my easiest way to improve the soil texture and OM
