Alternatively (if I may suggest an idea) you might try a soil fabric or something that white fabric I used kept the lower parts of the plants very clean. Maybe trimming leaves will make the already difficult job of getting the plants to be enthusiastic about growing the first truss even harder. Just an idea. It's not like I know what I'm doing mine have all failed so far so your system may work better.

Brandon that may be the case and I know a great grower that uses weed fabric over drip. We have a few decent megas but who knows if they will pollinate. This early I don’t have pollen donors like mid season. I have always thought the lack of pollen to apply was the main reason I don’t get them to take. Maybe next year I will try fabric.

Yeah I hear you. I have an overwintered plant that I am using for pollen. Growers could always use a grocery store tomato as a pollen donor but then the offspring from those seeds would be smaller.
