My gosh, being a new grower and seeing so much carnage I wonder what the f I'm doing. I'm growing mine in some sort of auxetic mold next year. Godspeed to you tho!

Looks like it still wants to grow but the outside layer would not do it. Good luck, maybe it will hold.

It seems Were seeing more and more pumpkins with this type of thing near the blossum nub. Although this split is by far the biggest I have seen.

For sure keep it dry and it should harden up like a battle scar, BUT how going to be a challenge hopefully not much further in? Just had a thought...wonder we may see the day when growers lay out lifting straps early in the season and fruit grows over them. So then at times like this be able to raise it few inches to inspect/treat any injury? Very carefully of course!
